There are many reasons to love Richland, WA. The winters are tepid, while the summers are perfect! The high desert climate is almost always sunny and breezy. Richland residents enjoy the local Columbia River with its green-belts, waterskiing, sailing, kayaking and fishing. There are beautiful orchards throughout the area, fine dining, and nearby hiking (Badger "Mountain"). Richland residents are a couple of hours from good skiing (Hood Mountain and Bluewood) and the traffic to Pasco and Kennewick is completely reasonable!
Richland and the Tri-Cities area boasts some of the strongest public schools in the country coupled with very strong focus on higher education. Washington State University maintains an extension center in the north western part of the town.
Richland's economy is most heavily concentrated on government contracting and agriculture. Their elevation is approx. 450 feet above sea level. We are about a 3-hour drive from Seattle and 3-hours drive from Portland. We are about a 4.5 hour drive from Boise, and about a 2-hour drive from Spokane. The greater Tri-Cities area has about 240,000 people.
