There are many reasons to love Pasco, WA. The winters are tepid, while the summers are perfect! The high desert climate is almost always sunny and breezy. Pasco residents enjoy the local Columbia River with its green-belts, waterskiing, sailing, kayaking and fishing. There are beautiful orchards throughout the area, fine dining, and nearby hiking (Badger "Mountain"). Pasco residents are a couple of hours from good skiing (Hood Mountain and Bluewood) and the drive to and from Pasco and Kennewick has one of the best traffic layouts in the country!
Pasco and the Tri-Cities area boast some of the strongest public schools in the country coupled with very strong focus on higher education. Washington State University maintains an extension center in the north-western part of nearby Richland (10-20 minutes from Pasco). Also, there is a community college (Columbia Basin Community College) in Pasco, and a technical college (Tri-Tech in Kennewick).
Paco's economy is most heavily concentrated on government contracting and agriculture. Their elevation is approximately 450 feet above sea level. Pasco residents are about a 3-hour drive from Seattle and 3.5-hours drive from Portland. Furthermore, Pasco residents drive about a 4.5 hours to Boise and about 2-hours to Spokane. The greater Tri-Cities area has about 240,000 people.
